Eligibility
You must have passed 12th from science stream with biology from any recognized board with at least 50% marks.
For the diploma courses, there is no minimum percentage as every college has its different criteria about the percentage
Some colleges even accept admission on behalf of the percentage obtained in board exams
Most colleges either conduct their own entrance exams or offer admission as per the marks scored in national or state-level entrance exams.
Job Profiles in Paramedical Sector
Nurse - It is one of the most well-known paramedical professions and an integral part of the healthcare system.
Physiotherapist- It is concerned with the assessment and treatment of physical disability, pain resulting from injury, and other health-related problems. A physiotherapist treats post-operative cases such as fracture, amputation, dislocation, neurological cases, nerve injuries, and muscular diseases.
Occupational Therapist- It focuses on helping individuals with mental or physical illness/ disability to come back to normal. Occupational therapists use methods in the treatment of their patients to help them with recovery and becoming normal after a prolonged illness.
Audiologist and Speech Therapist - Audiology is defined as the study of hearing disorders. These professionals treat people who are unable to speak or hear clearly. Speech therapists use special instruments to evaluate the nature and extent of impairment and suggest remedial action.
Radiographers - Radiographers take x-ray films of body parts used in diagnosing medical problems. Experienced radiologists perform more complex imaging tests.
Rehabilitation Workers - Rehabilitation workers play an important role for people with severe disabilities. A rehabilitation team provides care in such cases. Along with the doctor or therapist, the team may include nurses, psychologists, family members, and other healthcare practitioners.
Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLT): Medical laboratory technologists examine body fluids, tissues, blood, chemical analyses, and cell counts, etc. of the human body. They play a significant role in collecting the information needed for treating most pathology cases by analysing, testing, and reporting the results.
Average Fee
The course fee for a bachelor’s degree course can be approximately INR 60,000/- for each year with an additional expense of hostel fee which can be approximately INR 4,000/- per month
Average Salary
The salary of people who have taken a paramedic course ranges from INR 2, 20,000 to INR 10,00,000. As with every other profession, the salary increases with experience. Besides, the private sector is said to offer more in comparison to the public sector.
