Pt. Prithi Nath Chak, born in 1858 in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, India, was called the uncrowned king of Kanpur Bar. He was a distinguished lawyer, a philanthropist and an educationist of Kanpur, started a school in Patkapur Mohalla in the latter part of the nineteenth century but shifted it to its present site after purchasing the land along with the building on it from the Govt. It progressed, expanded and attained present position in 1959. The college, known as P.P.N. College, Kanpur, is an outstanding memorial of his contribution to education. Noted freedom fighter and lawyer Pt. Moti Lal Nehru joined him as junior in Cawnpore Collectorate and spent several years to learn the basics of advocacy before moving to Allahabad. A statue in the Cawnpore Collectorate Compound, Kanpur proclaims his all-round greatness. He took last breath on March 11, 1910 at Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India.
